What do you know about the use and maintenance of truck tires?

(1) Safe storage

All tires should be stored in a cool, dry and dark room, away from sunlight, oil, acid and hydrocarbons, which will corrode the tires. Due to the increase in pressure, liquid may enter the tire body through the inner airtight layer of the tire, which will cause sudden damage to the tire.

(2) Tire maintenance

Timely tire rotation, selection of appropriate tread, daily maintenance, regular tire pressure inspection, timely repair after damage and frequent removal of stones and foreign objects in the tread are all important factors in extending the life of the tire. After a period of use, the tire will be affected by factors such as the camber of the road, braking and different tire assembly positions, which will cause a large difference in tread wear. Therefore, it is necessary to rotate and assemble in time so that each tire can rotate once in each position and the load borne by each tire is roughly the same, so as to solve the problem of uneven wear of the tire and extend the service life. There are two commonly used methods for tire rotation: "cross rotation" and "cyclic rotation". When new and old tires are mixed, if the new tires are better, the new or better tires are fixed on the front wheels, and the old or refurbished tires are fixed on the rear wheels. Then, left-right switching, inside-outside shifting, etc. are adopted. Whenever the original rolling direction is changed after the switching, the tire should be reversed (i.e., the loading position and rolling direction are changed). This is a measure to reduce or even eliminate the tire's eccentric wear chamfer and excessive fatigue of the shoulder on one side. It is also a way to extend the tire's service life and increase the refurbishment rate.

(3) Ensure standard air pressure

Master the tire inflation standard and ensure that the tire pressure is within the specified value. Too high or too low tire pressure will increase wear and reduce mileage. When the tire pressure is lower than the standard value, the wear of the tire shoulder increases sharply; when the tire pressure is higher than the standard value, the tire contact area is reduced and the unit pressure increases, which increases the wear of the middle part of the tire tread. At the same time, the tire rigidity is increased, and the dynamic load on the wheel increases, which is easy to cause tire body burst. The impact is more serious when driving on uneven roads or at high speeds.

(4) Control tire temperature

When the car is driving, the tire deformation and friction will increase the temperature inside the tire. When it reaches above 100℃, the tire strength will be greatly reduced, which is very likely to cause delamination, explosion and other damage. Tire temperature is not easy to measure. It is usually determined by the degree of increase in tire pressure. The higher the tire pressure, the higher the tire temperature. When the ambient temperature is above 30℃, the degree of increase in tire pressure should not exceed 20% of the inflation standard. Due to poor heat dissipation conditions, it is very easy for the tire temperature to exceed 100℃. When driving in high temperatures in summer, if the tire temperature is too high, you should stop the car in a cool place to cool it down naturally. It is strictly forbidden to use methods such as splashing cold water and deflating to cool down and reduce pressure. Because splashing cold water will cause the tire to cool down suddenly, the various parts will shrink unevenly, and cracks will easily occur, affecting the service life. In hot weather, if you encounter a section of road where you need to wade through water, you should also stop the car to cool down first to avoid adverse effects on the tire. If the tire is deflated during driving, although the tire pressure drops, the tire temperature does not drop, which destroys the original balance condition. When the tire continues to drive, the deformation increases due to the decrease in air pressure, which will cause the tire temperature to continue to rise on the original basis until the heat generation and heat dissipation of the tire are balanced again. At this time, the tire temperature is much higher than before, causing serious damage to the tire.

(5) The impact of driving habits on tires

① Start smoothly. Because the wheel suddenly rotates from a stationary state, the tire and the road surface will have violent friction, which will accelerate the wear of the tire crown.

② Drive at medium speed. According to information, when the speed changes from medium speed to high speed, the tire mileage will decrease by 15%. In addition, the higher the speed, the greater the wave vibration frequency. When the speed reaches a certain critical speed, the wave deformation on the surface of the tire crown will increase significantly, forming a stationary waveform. This is the standing wave phenomenon of the tire. When the standing wave phenomenon occurs, the tire is out of round, the tire temperature rises sharply, and the cord layer and the tread will peel off and fly. Small damage to the tire may cause a major traffic accident.

③ Try to avoid emergency braking. During emergency braking, the wheels change from rolling to dragging, causing friction between the tire and the road surface, resulting in severe wear due to overheating. If emergency braking is frequently used at high speed, a large amount of heat will be generated, causing tire aging and causing serious damage to the tire.

(6) Routine inspection before driving

Before driving, check whether the tire has bulges, cracks, cuts, nails, lack of air and abnormal wear. If any are found, they must be repaired immediately. Check whether the tire groove is pierced by debris, metal pieces, glass, etc. or there are foreign objects such as stones stuck in the tire groove. If found, please use a screwdriver to remove them. Check the tightness of the tire fixing nuts and tighten them in time if they are loose. If the tire pressure is found to be 20% lower than the standard, the tire must be removed as soon as possible at the nearest tire shop and inspected by professionals. Pay attention to whether the wheel rim of the vehicle body is deformed, cracked, etc. to facilitate driving safety.
